Event at the Bulgarian Embassy in London: Celebrating Medical Education and Bulgarian Traditions
Medical University – Plovdiv, in partnership with ACS Malta and Inter HECS – Study in Bulgaria, organized a large-scale and distinguished event at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in London. The forum brought together current and prospective students, parents, successful alumni, and distinguished guests, immersing them in an atmosphere of academic excellence, cultural heritage, and strong international cooperation.
The event celebrated the successful strategic partnership between Medical University – Plovdiv and ACS Malta. It provided a unique opportunity for dozens of prospective students and their families to learn firsthand about the outstanding educational opportunities offered by one of the most prestigious and technologically advanced medical universities in Bulgaria and Europe – Medical University – Plovdiv.
The patron of the event was His Excellency Mr. Tihomir Stoytchev, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Kingdom, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Lyubka Stoycheva. Guest of Honour was His Excellency Professor Stephen Montefort, High Commissioner of Malta to the United Kingdom.

The programme began with a ceremony in the Bulgarian Orthodox chapel located within the Embassy building. This created a unique and solemn atmosphere, highlighting the importance of Bulgarian traditions and spiritual values in today’s global educational environment.
Immediately afterwards, a specialised Open Day was held. Prospective students and their parents received detailed and valuable information about the Medicine and Dentistry programmes at Medical University – Plovdiv. Future medical professionals were introduced to the university’s excellent facilities, admissions requirements, student life, and extensive opportunities for international career development.
A key highlight of the Open Day was the presentation of ACS Malta, a partner of Medical University – Plovdiv in delivering joint educational programmes. Representatives of the college introduced attendees to specially designed collaborative programmes and the significant advantages that this partnership offers to applicants from all over the world. The team of Inter HECS – Study in Bulgaria also presented its comprehensive range of services, which make the application process for hundreds of international students secure, straightforward, and exciting.
The official programme commenced with a reception hosted by His Excellency Mr. Tihomir Stoytchev for the distinguished guests. In his welcoming address, the Bulgarian Ambassador emphasised the vital importance of international educational cooperation.
The leadership of Medical University – Plovdiv also addressed the audience, highlighting the continuously growing interest among international students in higher education in Bulgaria and the undeniable competitive advantages enjoyed by the university’s graduates in the global labour market. As a symbol of successful cooperation, the partner institutions exchanged official gifts, while students were presented with special gifts from the Inter HECS team.
The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony honouring Medical University – Plovdiv students with outstanding academic achievements. They were presented with commemorative plaques in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and pursuit of excellence in their field of studies.
Particularly inspiring were the heartfelt speeches delivered by current students and their parents. Sharing their personal experiences and success, they confirmed that they had chosen Medical University – Plovdiv because of its world-class education and exceptionally supportive academic environment. Their stories provided valuable insight and confidence to future students preparing to embark on their own academic journeys.
The celebration continued with a rich folklore programme showcasing the beauty of Bulgarian traditions. While guests enjoyed an elegant cocktail reception, talented performers filled the halls with authentic Bulgarian folk songs and the enchanting sound of the bagpipe. The evening concluded with traditional Bulgarian folk dances, in which many international guests enthusiastically joined, transforming the forum into a true celebration of intercultural exchange.
The event in London established itself as a remarkable triumph for Bulgarian education and cultural heritage. It not only reaffirmed the strong and long-standing partnership between Medical University – Plovdiv, ACS Malta, and Inter HECS, but also opened new horizons for future medical professionals from around the world who choose Bulgaria as the pathway to their professional success.
