Studying medicine and becoming a doctor is a dream for many. However that dream becomes shattered when you fail to secure a place in the UK and the pressure afterwards is excruciatingly daunting especially from families members who believe in you so much and have so much hope for you.
However please don’t let that pressure force you to apply through Inter HECS or any other agency to try and secure a place in Bulgaria.
Firstly, these agencies have absolutely no morals. All together, they will cost you well in the north of £2000 as they keep requesting you to send so and so document over. The services they provide are nothing compared to their profit margins from each applicant. Please do not be fooled by little Stami and her brother as they are literally running a massive scam.
Then the entry exam procedure was absolutely ridiculous. From my experience I was given all the answers to the entry exams in the mocks and I was also told that i can use any resource I want whilst taking the exam. Literally asking me to “cheat”. Later I found out they were only doing this become they couldn’t get enough applicants to the university I was applying for. (This experience was just a little taste of what’s to follow when I actually went to Bulgaria).
Once I landed in Bulgaria, there was a complete cultural shock. Racism literally started from the airport where the immigration officers had a problem with me being of Pakistani origin holding a British passport. I always tried to remain happy and positive in a foreign country but most the taxi drivers I used and shops I went to literally didn’t even reply to me when I would greet them in their own language with a smile. Maybe that’s how things are in Bulgaria but as someone who has been a victim of racism for a long part of my life -this is not a pleasant experience.
During the guided tours and campus meetings, you start to hear vile stories of what happened last year on campus. From professors purposefully and wrongfully failing students simply because they didn’t like them to others paying vast sums of money to pass a module. With each story you hear, the butterflies in your stomach worsen and worsen. However you reassure yourself that it won’t happen to you and you are only here to get the degree and never see this place again. Then you see people on campus and takeaways who have already graduated from the university but are still around even tho it’s almost October. You ask them why that’s so. Then you hear their sad and dreaded answers “ I still need to get so and so before applying for a GMC license in the UK” and sometimes “ I’ve been waiting for the past 3 years to get a post from NHS”. Hearing these stories make you feel a level of emptiness and disbelief you never knew before existed. You feel numb, angry, regretful, weak, hopeless, brokenhearted, empty, lost and lonely. You go home without a shred of appetite whilst the empty room starts to feel like it’s spinning around you. Then you call your loved ones who are still so proud of your courage and dedication. You give them reassurance that everything is great and you are starting to really enjoy your time there. Weirdly enough these lies also give you some hope. Perhaps it’s not the lies but the happiness and false reassurance you just gave to your loved ones.
Then you hang up the phone…. There is nothing to do now. Then the nausea kicks in again as you realise you just wasted around £8000 of hard earned money from your middle class parents to pay for what you have just experienced today. You WISH you could back in time just a couple of months so you could shout at your own-self and stop yourself from paying that money. Telling your past self of what you are about to go through. You start to wish it’s some sort of a dream. You feel delusional. It’s 4am and you need to wake up at 7am to go to your first class early in the morning. You try to sleep but can’t until you eventually give up and decide to stay awake. It’s 6am and your eyes start shutting but you force your way through for the next hour.(continue in reply)

Very unprofessional place to study. Degree is hardly recognised in the UK. Total course for medicine is over 7 years as you graduate very late. Please take a gap year and avoid such places and organisations such as Inter HECS.

The Program duration is 6 years for Medicine, and 5.5 years for Dentistry, so the information you provide is incorrect.
