About the University of Pécs in Hungary

The University of Pécs was founded in the 14th century! Nowadays, it includes many faculties that offer interesting study programs in different languages, incl. Hungarian, English and German! Some of the university faculties are: The Faculty of Business and Economics, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Law and more! Student life in Pécs

Pécs is the fifth largest city in Hungary – its population amounts to roughly 145 000. It is located in the southwest part of the country, near the border of Serbia and Croatia and about 200 km away from the capital city Budapest. Nearby airports include the airports in Budapest, Szeged and Zagreb. The excellent location of the city allows locals and foreigners to travel and visit different countries and sceneries in their free time!

Pécs is an ancient city founded in the 2nd century and it attracts everyone who is interested in exploring fascinating cultural and historical monuments and admiring scenic views. Famous sightseeing places include Széchenyi tér (the central square), the Mosque of Pasha Qasim, Pécs Cathedral, the Early Christian Necropolis of Pécs, and the Synagogue. 

The city is also hosting many festivals and events such as POSZT (National Theatre Meeting in Pécs) and Sétatér Fesztivál. In your free time we also recommend going for a walk along Király and Irgalmasok streets – grab a coffee or buy a souvenir from the small cozy shops and simply enjoy the lovely atmosphere of Pécs! In the evening, enjoy dinner at the Mecsek hill – there is a TV tower and a stunning restaurant with a view over the whole city.

  • Be open-minded! You are moving to a different country, so do not focus on all things you miss from back home, but instead try to explore all the new things and leisure activities your new home offers!
