It is highly likely that your academic year starts with a basic course in Bulgarian language. The teachers will teach you some basic phrases so that you are able to ask for directions, greet people in Bulgaria etc.
Also, another university requirement in Bulgaria is that you have completed your secondary education. You are not allowed to study a Bachelor's or Master's programme in Bulgaria if you cannot provide a copy of your high-school diploma that is translated and legalized. Inter HECS offers translation and legalization services! Of course, it is not a problem to show these documents right before the start of the academic year - university staff are well-aware that it takes time until your diploma is issued (if you complete your secondary education in June, let's say). Also, the academic year at some universities in Bulgaria starts in February so you will have more time to collect the necessary certificates for your application to Bulgarian universities.
Sometimes, you have to sit an admission test if you wish to study in Bulgaria. Usually, an entrance exam is required in the field of medical science (entry test in Biology and Chemistry, sometimes only Biology) as well as arts (e.g. a drawing and a maths exam for people who want to study Architecture).
